William Dean Burdick was born in Grand Junction, Colorado, on January 1, 1970. Dean passed away in Tillamook, Oregon, on May 14, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. Dean entered the world as the center of attention being the first baby of the year born in Mesa County in Grand Junction, Colorado. Cameras started flashing the moment he opened his eyes and from that point on, he never missed a photo opportunity with family and friends. When he was a year old, Dean moved to Tillamook, Oregon where he grew up and attended school, graduating from Tillamook High School in 1988. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, spending time with family and friends, listening to music, live concerts, NASCAR, and was always willing to make time to share a Coors Light. Dean worked for Tillamook Cheese Factory, Oregon Canadian Forest Products, and Oregon Youth Authority as a Juvenile Parole and Probation Officer before fulfilling his dream of becoming a Tillamook County Sheriff Deputy in 2010. As the Tillamook County Search and Rescue Coordinator, Dean worked tirelessly to improve the quality of life for the citizens of Tillamook County and treated everyone he met with dignity and respect. Whoever had the fortune of connecting with Dean was immediately impacted by his ability to provide a sense of comfort, acceptance, and belonging. Dean's zest for life and passion for his family and community were truly infectious and will live on. He was known for giving his time, energy, and resources to anyone in need without hesitation. Dean volunteered for the Oregon Fallen Badge Foundation and strived to ensure law enforcement and their families were honored and appreciated at each event he was involved in. Dean will be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother, mentor, and friend. He was preceded in death by his mom and dad John and Donna Burdick, niece Megan Price and, Bobby Vogt. To carry on his legacy, Dean leaves behind his loving family; Wife- Yvonne Garcia-Burdick of Tillamook, Oregon, Children- Melissa Garcia of Tillamook, Oregon, Jessica Garcia of Tillamook, Oregon, John Garcia of Nehalem, Oregon, Kristina Burdick of Nehalem, Oregon, and Cassandra Garcia of Tillamook, Oregon. Brothers- David Patterson and wife Donna of Texas and Kenny Patterson and wife Rindy of Clatskanie, Oregon. Sisters- Paula Olson of Bend, Oregon, Tami Steinbach and husband Tom of Hillsboro, Oregon, Toni Whitworth and husband Kevin of Elkton, Oregon and Casey Hein and husband Mike Fossbind of Cloverdale, Oregon. Grandchildren- Gabriella, Aden, Ryan, Noah, Isabella, Addison, Isaiah, and one more grandson on the way. Several nieces and nephews Dean's family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the family, friends and community members who have provided support to Dean and his family throughout this difficult journey. Services for Dean will be held on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at 1:30PM at the Tillamook County Fairgrounds. Memorial contributions in Dean's name can be made at US Bank in Tillamook, Oregon. Arrangements are in care of Waud's Funeral Home.
