Dean Edward Auenson was born October 20, 1953, to Eugene and Dolly (Agnes) Auenson in Fargo North Dakota – really Fargo! He is preceded in death by parents and his brother Stephen Auenson.

As a son of a General Foods employee, he lived in Madison, Wisconsin; Fullerton, California; Stamford, Connecticut; and Portland, Oregon. Dean stayed long enough in Oregon to finish his degree in Business and a minor in computer science at Oregon State University where he met his future wife, Joyce and Jesus. In the Auenson tradition of a salesman, he and Joyce lived in Oregon, Washington, California, Illinois, New Jersey, and returned to Oregon in 2001.

Dean participated in soccer and wrestling (perfect record: 0 wins!) at Sunset High School in Beaverton, Oregon, and his most favorite sport of all was golf. This love of golf continued throughout his life time where he met and maintained many lifelong relationships. He enjoyed fishing and went on many trips with his dad and brother. Joyce and Dean enjoyed going to the beach, having Sunday brunch out every Sunday, and visiting galleries and museums. The wineries of Oregon were frequent stops to enjoy the wonderful views and the vino. Going on vacations to different countries and cruising were favorite past times for the Auenson’s. Many a person tasted and enjoyed his famous BBQ’s of chicken and ribs with the Dean’s Famous Beans rounding out the menu of many parties. Cooking was a passionate past time and was appreciated by all who came to his table.

At Oregon State University Dean was a member of Delta Upsilon. He worked his way through college writing computer programs for the Oregon State University Athletic Department and as a hasher at a local sorority. As a member of Merriweather Golf Course, he recently retired from serving fourteen years on the board. Dean also was a member of the OGA, and a member of the Portland Business Journal and ExecUnet. In serving the Lord, Dean sat on the governing board of two adult fellowships at First Evangelical Free Church of Fullerton in California and attended Village Baptist Church in Beaverton for the last 14 years.

Dean leaves his wife of 42 years, Joyce Doreen Auenson, sister-in-law Joy Auenson, nephew Jon Auenson, nieces Kristi Carver and Lori Goranson, Uncle Charles and Aunt Eva Auenson and three cousins and other members of his extended family.
