Deuel Wayne Born, 89, of Roseville, California. Passed away on Thursday 8/3/2017, of natural causes. The Memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church, 6414 Brace Road in Loomis on 8/16/2017 at 1:30pm.
Deuel was born in Homer, Michigan on 10/9/1927. As a result of the Depression, the family moved to Yosemite, California. Where Deuel attended Mariposa Elementary School. He also attended Modesto High School and Modesto Junior College. He served in the Navy during World War II, and in the Army during the Korean War.
Deuel was married to Patricia Billie Birt on February 14th, 1948, and they remained married until her death in 1991. Deuel had a long career in management with Pacific Telephone and Telegraph (PT&T), and retired at age 52.
He enjoyed oil painting and landscape photography, as well as tennis, snow skiing, scuba diving, and hiking. His favorite, by far, was cycling, and he won several medals at the National Senior Games. It was through cycling the Deuel met Merla Carothers, his beloved companion of many years.
Deuel is survived by; Holly Smith, daughter, a nursing consultant in Sacramento. Carol McCulley, daughter, retired in Alturas, CA. Dana Baker, granddaughter, of New Pine Creek, CA. Kristin MCulley, granddaughter, of Arcata, CA., and three great granddaughters; Maddielynn McCulley, Lillyann Baker, and Molly Baker, of New Pine Creek, CA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer's Association. The family would like to thank Bristol Hospice.
