Dodge G Melkonian, 93, of Clearwater passed on to God surrounded by love at Morton Plant Hospital October 8, 2017. He was born in Pontiac, Michigan to parents Krikor and Sirpoohi that had survived the Armenian genocide. Oakland County was his home until he moved to Florida in 1989. A dedicated American Patriot, Dodge served as a pilot in the Air Force in WWII. After being honorably discharged from active duty, he then remained in the reserves for 23 years as a Major. The love of music began at an early age of 8. He was eventually 1st chair violin as well as tympani-percussionist in his state award-winning orchestra & band. His rich base voice

was welcomed at a Pontiac church choir as well as his beloved Barbershop groups Palm Harbor Crystal-Aires and most recently, the Florida Suncoast Chorus.

Dodge had a varied work life as Advertising Manager for the Pontiac News as well as both Simms Brother’s Dept Store & Federal Dept Stores. For the bulk of his hard-working years, he was executive Vice-President of New York Carpet World, at one time the largest flooring company in the world.

But, retirement from his fulltime profession would not keep him busy enough. His avocation became rehabbing properties and his best hobby was travel that included all 50 states and 190 countries.

He believed in brotherhood and in giving back to his community. Dodge was a member of the Elks Club and other organizations in Michigan. In Florida, he was a member of the Council of Service Organi-zations of Upper Pinellas, President of both the Countryside Lions Club & the Clearwater Evening Lions Club, a funded life member of Ruth Eckerd Hall, a member of the Morton Plant-Mease Hospital Founda-tion, Sponsor of the Dunedin Fine Arts Center and many other volunteer & community organizations.

Pre-deceased by Sister Isabelle, 95, in 2007, Dodge will be sadly missed by Brother Zaven from Michi-gan; Son Michael & his Wife Shirley, MI; Son Drew & his Wife Tamra, FL; Daughter April; 5 Grandchil-dren David, Scott, Kari, Adam & Cameron, and 7 Great Grandchildren. And, he will be missed most deeply be his devoted Wife & Soul Mate, Jill.

This man loved his Family, extended Family & Friends that became Family. A life truly well-led, his smile will live on forever. He will be interred in Lancaster, PA on the date of his 33rd wedding anniversary
