Dolores May Smith, beloved grandmother, wife, and mother, 86 went home to be with the Lord Thursday, February 16th at Memorial Hospital in Tampa. She went peacefully surrounded by loved ones; and her dearest grandchildren whom she loved more than anything.
She was born in St Louis, Missouri on July 27th, 1930. She was the oldest of 4. She got married at 16 years old to the love of her life. They moved to Tampa in 1947, and started the Roto Rooter franchise shortly there after. They ran the business for many decades before retiring. They were married for 47 years before his death in 1993. She was predeceased by her parents Benson and Preble Brown, her only son Frank John Smith Jr, only husband Frank John Smith Sr, youngest sister Patsy Shoupe, and lastly her only daughter Delynda Cooper who passed just 11 months ago. She is survived by her 2 grandchildren Kristen Cooper, and Nicholas Cooper, her only brother Benjamin Brown, her sister Janet Howard, cousins, nieces, nephews and many loved ones who were just like family to her.
She had a heart of gold and showed love to everyone she came in contact with. She was beautiful inside and out. She touched so many peoples hearts and lives in her time here on earth and will never be forgotten. We take peace in knowing she is shining her light in heaven now watching over us, and we will see her again one day. We will honor her life at the Garden of Memories funeral home in Tampa at 2pm today Wednesday February 22nd, 2017.
