Donald Clifton Roof, longtime resident of Pacific Palisades, California, died of natural causes July 27, 2015. He was 98. Mr. Roof was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on January 26, 1917. He moved to Venice, California from Cleburne, Texas in 1930. He graduated from Venice High School and attended Santa Monica Technical School. He worked at Douglas Aircraft Company (now Boeing Corp.) from 1939 until his retirement in 1977. Mr. Roof married Jean Coler Anglemyer in 1940 and settled in Pacific Palisades that same year. The Roof's first lived on Embury Street before moving into their hand-crafted home on Swarthmore Avenue. Mr. Roof served in the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary during World War II. He was a member of the Masons, Scottish Rite, Shriners, Rotary Club, and was a volunteer for the Exceptional Children's Foundation. He was also an usher and deacon at the Presbyterian Church of Pacific Palisades. He was a member of the Douglas Aircraft Company Federal Credit Union (now NuVision FCU) for 50 years, serving in various positions including President of the Board of Directors. Mr. Roof is predeceased by Jean, his wife of 62 years. He is survived by his 3 children, Donald Jr., Dennis, and Nancy (Hale); grandchildren Dylan, Ryan, David, Daniel, Zach, Douglas, Hunter (Hale), and Hannah (Hale), and great grandchildren Jaedin, Colby and Lorelei. Graveside services were held August 10 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Santa Monica.
