Donald L. Holmstrom went to be with his Lord on November 23, 2016. He was born on February 19, 1935 in Joliet IL to Larry and Ethel Holmstrom. At the age of 6 his family moved to Whitehall. He graduated from Whitehall High School in 1953. Don served his country proudly in the US Army and was stationed in Alaska. On a cold, snowy, windy December day in 1958 he married Marlene Phillips. In his lifetime, he worked for the Whitehall Police Dept., Whitehall Leather Company and New York Life Insurance Co. Before retiring he was a Real Estate Broker and co-owner of the Arrowhead Agency in Montague. He was a member of Rotary and the Whitehall Township Clerk for many years. Don was also a long-time member of Lebanon Lutheran Church where he served on the Church Council and sang in the choir. He is survived by his wife Marlene; children, Jeff Holmstrom, Linda (Carl) Schenten, and Julie (Doug) Soderberg; grandchildren, Emily Holmstrom, Lindsey and Keith Schenten; Lauren and Ken Soderberg, and Zophia Zysk; nephews Larry, Gary, Dan and Karl; nieces, Sandy, Denise, Susie and Debbie; and 6 cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and 2 brothers Dave and Ray. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at 2 pm at Lebanon Lutheran Church, 1101 S Mears Ave., Whitehall. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the start of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Lebanon Lutheran Church.
