Mr. Donald Lero Davis, age 83, of Marietta, GA., passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2017. Mr. Davis was born on November 17, 1933 in Waxahachie, Texas a son of the late Truman B Davis and Ruby Hart Davis.
Mr. Davis spent most of his childhood and young adult life in the Fort Worth, Texas area. He graduated salutatorian of his high school class and also played baseball. While attending high school Donald met the love of his life, Mrs. June Davis. They would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on March 6. Enlisting out of high school in the United States Navy Reserves, Donald served faithfully and then retired after 22 years. Moving to Atlanta in 1976, he spent his working career in Sales, Management and Leadership roles until he retired. Upon retirement, he made his love of woodworking into a second career, where he created many fine pieces of craftsmanship for others.
Throughout his entire life, Donald was a man of great faith. His love and devotion to The Lord was evident in every area of his life. He taught Sunday school from a young age, teaching classes classes for early teens to senior adult. He served as an Elder at North Atlanta Church of Christ in Dunwoody and was a current residing Elder at East Cobb Church of Christ for the past ten years. Donald was the perfect picture of the grace of Jesus. His passion was loving people into Christ-likeness. His servant's heart and kind spirit easily uplifted everyone around him. Outside of working in the church and raising his family, he enjoyed watching baseball, and cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs with his wife. Donald was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend; he will certainly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Along with his parents, Mr. Davis is preceded in death by one brother, Doyle L. Davis.
Mr. Davis is survived by his devoted wife, June Davis; two daughters, Donna Lane, husband Jim, of Greensboro, NC. and Becky Trenary, husband Dan, of Hoschton, GA.; on son, Tim Davis, wife Michelle, of Kennesaw, GA.; a sister, Barbara Ann Hitt of Arlington, TX.; seven grandchildren, Scott Jensen, Jennifer Thomas, Spencer Trenary, Avery Trenary, Alina Trenary, Olivia Davis, and Andrew Davis; three great-grandchildren, Christian, Lane, and Parker; several extended family and friends also survive.
A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Davis will be held at eleven o'clock in the morning on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at East Cobb Church of Christ, 5240 Roswell Rd Marietta, GA 30062. Interment will take place at two thirty in the afternoon, following the funeral service in the Georgia National Cemetery.
A visitation with the family will take place from five o'clock in the afternoon until eight on Monday, February 13, 2017 at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw, GA.
