Don R. Driskill, 82, of Hallsville passed away on Friday, December 29, 2017 at The Bluffs.



Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2018, at Hallsville United Methodist Church. Memorial Services will follow at 11:00 at the church, with Pastor Robert Cook officiating. Burial will be at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2018, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Columbia.



He was born on September 23, 1935, in Boone County to John Henry and Eliza (Wainscott) Driskill, both of whom preceded him in death. He was married on November 16, 1954 to Darlene Bink, who preceded him in death on March 29, 2015.



Don graduated from Hickman High School in 1954 and directly joined the United States Navy. He served in Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. He was transferred to Kingsville, Texas and served on the “crash crew” as a firefighter.



After he left the Navy, he bought Driskill’s Conoco and later went to work for Mid-State Liquor Distributors, where he worked as a driver for 19 years. He worked as an assistant manager for National Garment until their closing and after retirement drove as a courier for Joe Machen’s Toyota. Don was a sports enthusiast and was an usher manager at the University football games for 11 years. Fishing, baseball and basketball occupied his time.



He is survived by: four sons: Don G. (Kate), Martin (Cindy), Robert (Karla) and Kevin (Brenda); 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; and one brother Glen (Jennie) of Hallsville. Besides his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by one son, Steven; and one brother, Ronald (Dusty).



The family would like to thank the staff at The Bluffs for the care given to Don.
