Donald Robert Kwasek, passed away at his home in Phoenix on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at the age of 63. He was born on June 28, 1954 in Santa Fe, New Mexico and graduated from St. Michael's High School in 1973 where he was honored Athlete of the Year for achievements in football, basketball, and track. Don also graduated from Arizona Automotive Institute with a Degree in Architectural Drafting and Design in 1974. He was a proud Marine, a Vietnam War veteran and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. Throughout his life, Donald was a devoted athlete, who played for the All Marine Basketball Team and later played tennis at an advanced level. He had a passion for teaching and had a particular gift for teaching tennis to children as a member of the United States Professional Tennis Registry. He used this gift as the tennis coach for North Canyon High School for several years. Don was beloved by all who met him, and his love of life extended to his many hobbies including art, woodworking, scuba, tennis, going to the movies, and camping and hiking the Grand Canyon. Donald is survived by his loving spouse of 35 years, Dr. Jamie McReynolds; daughter Casey of Phoenix, sons Brett of Phoenix and Marcus and his wife Allison of Vernon, NJ; sister Pat and husband Randy Kehler; nephew Patrick, niece Kristen; mother-in-law Clydie McReynolds; brother-in-law Kevin McReynolds and wife Cathleen; sister-in-law Rowena McReynolds, nephew Sasha and nieces Ana and Masha McReynolds. He was pre-deceased by his mother, Madge Kwasek; his aunt, Clara Apodaca; and his brother-in-law Jeff McReynolds. He is also survived by a unique extended family in Phoenix - The Owens-Rowe-Toth-Welton-Key Clan and the dozens of children and grandchildren who made him part of their family, as well as many, many friends and family. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, September 9, 2017, at the Shadow Mountain Mortuary, 2350 E. Greenway Road, Phoenix, AZ.
