Rockwell City – Donna M. Neumann 81, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Shady Oaks Care Center, Lake City. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 2, at the Church of Christ, Rockwell City, with Rev. Dwaine Simonsen officiating. Burial will be at St. John Cemetery, Kiron. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City.
Donna is survived by her children, Richard (Deb) Neumann of Sac City, Edward (Wanettia) Neumann of Little Falls, MN, Sharon (Gary) Babcock of Odebolt, Kathy Hammen (friend Jim) of Rockwell City, and Susan (Tracy) Lane of Atlantic; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; brothers, Louie Schulte of Cheyenne, WY, and Phillip Schulte of Perry; and sister Rae Bucklew of Perry. She was preceded in death by her husband Merlin Henry Albert Neumann; son Bruce Neumann; grandsons, Gary Neumann, and Michael Babcock; her parents, Harold and Leona (Shoemaker) Schulte; parents-in-law, Albert and Elsie Neumann; brother-in-law, Melvin Neumann; and sister-in-law, Patricia Schulte, and Martha Neumann.
Donna Mae Schulte Neumann was born January 5, 1934 at Lake City, Iowa. She attended rural school near Sac City. On January 17, 1951 she was united in marriage to Merlin Henry Albert Neumann at Faith Lutheran Church in Wall Lake. The couple lived in many communities in the area, where Donna worked as an aide at various nursing homes including Colonial Manor Nursing home in Odebolt. Merlin passed away in 1992. Donna established her home in Rockwell City. She was a member of the Church of Christ, and a past member of Faith Lutheran Church in Odebolt. She enjoyed visiting with friends and family, reading, sewing, bird watching, movies, soap operas, and dogs of any kind. She also enjoyed visiting with her Shady Oaks roommate Katie.
