Dora Lawson
Dora Lawson, 95, of Fairmont passed away on Monday, November 28, 2016 at her home. She was born at Pine Grove in Wetzel County on April 21, 1921 the last surviving child born to John Nelson Shreve and Rosie Solival Shreve.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, William Alfred Lawson, Sr. in January of 2012.
Dora was a devoted wife, homemaker and mother. In addition, she was employed at Owens-Illinois glass plant for 23 years. Mrs. Lawson was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Fairmont. Most of all she enjoyed cooking, baking and spending many good times with her large loving family.

Mrs. Lawson is survived by her daughter Gloria Jean and her husband Richard Helm of Fairmont, with whom she made her home since 2012; a very special daughter-in-law, Jennifer Lawson of Fairmont; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Leslie and Randy Marteny of Grafton, Allyson Lawson of Colorado, Jessica and Shaun Willard of Monongah, Ted and Tosh Helm of North Carolina, Constance and Joseph Scotchel of Westover, Lincoln and Jennifer Helm of Fairmont and Christine and Gary McDaniel of Louisiana; eighteen great grandchildren; two great-great granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Lawson was preceded in death by her son, William Alfred Lawson, Jr.; a great granddaughter, Angela Scotchel; four brothers, Henry, Lawrence, Frank and Joe; five sisters , Goldie, Betty, Inis, Lou and Verna; three siblings in infancy and a very special sister-in-law, Novaline Bee.

The Helm family is especially thankful for special friends, Elizabeth Knoll, Martha Lanham and Kathy Franks and the prayers and support from their Fellowship Baptist Church Family, including Pastor Glenn and Phyllis Stevenson.

Friends and family may call at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont on Friday from 4pm to 6pm and on Saturday from 10am to 11am. The funeral service will be at 11am on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at the funeral home with Pastor Glenn Stevenson officiating. Interment will follow at the Lions Cemetery in Lumberport.
