Somerville Doris A. Philephs 77, died June 17, 2017 at her residence in Somerville. Doris was born in Madison, North Carolina and formerly of Reidsville, North Carolina before moving to Somerville in 1958. Doris's life was spent as a homemaker raising her children. She was a member of the Belle Mead Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, playing card games, watching the NY Yankees, taking trips to the casino's in Atlantic City and was an avid bingo player. Doris will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She is predeceased by her husband James Russell Jr. who died in 1992 and a son James III in 1980 . Surviving are her son Nathan Philephs and wife Margaret, three daughters Donna Martin and husband Wayne, Debra Bailey and husband Fred and Diane Moser and companion Francis Troutman, three sisters, Estelle Owens, Nancy Smith and Edith May Cain, a brother Houston Pyrtle and fourteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Graveside services will be 10:30am Thursday at New Cemetery, 192 S. Bridge Street, Somerville. Visitation will be 2 -4pm and 7-9pm Wednesday at the Bruce C. VanArsdale Funeral Home, 111 N.
