Doris "Eleanor" LaChance (Branam), age 86, of 216 Ingals Rd. Skandia, died Saturday afternoon, March 21, 2015 at Upper Peninsula Health System in the care of family and Lake Superior Hospice. Eleanor was born on July 23, 1928 in Kalkaska, to the late Otis and Rachel Branam. She was married to Joseph Anthony "Tony" LaChance in Munising on September 6, 1947. Eleanor spent her early years as a homemaker, raising three children. After Tony's retirement they spent winters in Ajo, AZ. More recently she enjoyed playing bingo, reading, and playing penny slots. Eleanor's greatest joy was visiting with friends and family. She was a lifetime member of the Little Lake American Legion. Before Tony died he said he would wait for Eleanor on the moon. He passed away on March 21, 2007, exactly eight years before her. It gave her family great comfort to know the love of her life escorted her to heaven. She is survived by her children, David LaChance of Harvey, Patti Rae (Steve) Baker of Skandia and Ann LaChance of Harvey; six grandchildren, Jami (Michael) McCormick, Tony LaChance, Cori (Luke) Noordyk, Cindy (Randall Just) Baker, Steven (Melody Gorman) Baker and Joseph (Devin) Baker; eleven great grandchildren, Ricky, Ryan, Jerek, Alexis, Shelby, Mia, Steven 3rd, Eli, Blaike, Travis and Chloe; one sister, Deloris Ring of Columbiana, OH; and also many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph "Tony" LaChance; son, Dennis LaChance; brothers, Charles, Kenneth and Lonnie Branam; and sisters, Marjorie Jacobson and Bernice Peters. Friends and family may come to call at the Canale-Gwinn Funeral Home Wednesday March 25th for visitation from 11:30am-12:30pm with a services staring at 12:30pm. Light refreshments will be made available after the service at the funeral home. Canale-Gwinn Funeral Home is assisting the family, memories may be shared at canalefuneral.com
