Mrs. Doris Mae Beyers, age 84, of Kennesaw, GA, passed away on June 14, 2017. Mrs. Beyers was born on April 28, 1933 in Evansville, IN and was the daughter of the late Leonard Gerald Walter and Ida Mabel Schultz Walter.

Mrs. Beyers was a homemaker and a woman of many talents. Her passions included spending time with her family, the many friends she made throughout her life and serving her church family. Mrs. Beyers enjoyed sewing, crafting and all types of needlework, such as cross stitch, embroidery, and knitting. Her love of sewing started at an early age making doll clothes in Judi's Manufacturing Co., in Santa Claus, IN and extended into sewing clothes for her family and friends, and making décor for her home. She founded and devoted much time to the Dorcas Circle where a small group of ladies made hundreds of quilts for refugees and other people in need all over the world through Lutheran World Relief. She also loved to cook and bake evidenced by working as a young girl in her father's donut shop. Later, she hosted Garden Club luncheons and New Year's Eve parties. Finally, she turned her interest into catering wedding receptions. Many brides witnessed the making of beautiful cakes of all imaginations. Mrs. Beyers was not limited to the realm of arts and crafts. She helped design and build their family home in Kennesaw, GA. Mrs. Beyers also pursued interests in various clubs, researching her ancestors, enjoying card and board games and she would top off every evening with a root beer float. Mrs. Beyers was a member of the Living Hope Church on Stilesboro Road in Kennesaw, GA. More than all above, she had a deep love for Christ and her family.

Mrs. Beyers was preceded in death by her husband Eugene E. Beyers and is survived by four children, Jeff Beyers of Howell, MI, Terry Sheffield of Marietta, Mike Beyers of Marietta and Melissa Mercer of Kennesaw; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; as well as one sister, Judi Rasure of Evansville, IN.

A funeral service in celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at one o'clock in the afternoon at the Living Hope Church on Stilesboro Road. The Family will receive friends from ten to eleven o'clock at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home Saturday morning June 17, 2017. They will also receive friends at Living Hope Church from twelve o'clock until the time of services.
