91, passed away March 6, 2018 at her Spring Arbor residence surrounded by her loving family. Born May 21, 1926 to Fredrick and Leona Turner. Dorothy is survived by her children; Michael (Therese) Tash, Richard Omans, Ronald (Maureen) Omans, and Elizabeth Hendershot; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; brother James (Joyce) Noble; and special niece, Denise (Butch) Sheldon. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her beloved husband, Harold. Besides being a devoted wife and mother, Dorothy was a professional sewing instructor who, early in her career, worked for a couturier. Other artistic ventures for Dorothy include basket weaving, gardening, and crocheting. In 1975, to satisfy her love of hard work she embarked on the challenge of building her own home. With help from her husband, Harold, family, and friends, Dorothy, spent the next 10 years building a circular underground stone home. Dorothy will be remember for her honest and caring spirit along with her fantastic wit and humor. She was an extraordinary woman far beyond any words can express. The family would like to extend many thanks to all Great Lakes Caring Hospice Staff and caregivers especially Pam and Angela. Many Thanks to Erica Layson from Faith Haven for her care giving Special thanks to her niece and caregiver, Denise Sheldon for the exceptional care, wisdom, and devotion she provided our family during this difficult time. A celebration of her life will be held at Watson Funeral Chapel in Jackson on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 11:00AM. Dr. Brad Smith officiating. Interment at Spring Arbor Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Great Lakes Caring.

The family will receive friends at Watson Funeral Chapel on Thursday, March 8, 2018 from 4:00PM-8:00PM and on Friday from 10:00AM until the time of service at 11:00AM.
