A native of Dallas, Texas, Dorothy Elizabeth Dixon Curry was born on December 19, 1925, to the parentage of John Dixon and Viola Wright Dixon McGlinton Harrison. She was one of two children. Mrs.Curry was a charter member of First Christian Methodist Evangelistic Church where she served as a Stewardess. She received her B.A. Degree in Education from Texas College in Tyler, Texas. She moved to California to pursue her graduate studies and started her teaching career in early childhood education there with the Berkley Unified School District. She relocated to Dallas in the 1960s where she continued her teaching career with Dallas Independent School District. She retired after more than 25 years of service in the field of education. Mrs.Curry was a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. (Gamma Epsilon Chapter). She was an active member for over 50 years and a beloved “Delta Dear.” She also served on the Hospitality and Communications Committees. Mrs.Curry is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence “Dennis” Curry (1992); and sister, Johnnie Mae Green (2009). She is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Prince (Edgar Prince, Jr.); two grandchildren, Kimberly Prince and Kevin Prince (Cassie Prince); one great-grandson, Micah Prince; four nieces, Patricia Mayes, Beverly Winters, Cassandra Parrish, and Janice Green Wicks; two nephews, Henry “Tyrone” Green and Emmanuel “Michael” Green (Arlena Green); and a host of great nieces and great nephews.
