Obituary

Dorothy Batorson, age 94, of Batavia, Illinois passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at The Bickford of Aurora where she had resided since January. She was born August 12, 1923 in Aurora, Illinois to Lee and Stella (Todd) Quilhot. She attended school in Aurora until the family moved to Batavia, Illinois in 1938, graduating from Batavia High School in 1942. She married Joe A. Batorson on October 12, 1943 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Batavia.

Dorothy was very active in the Tuesday morning and Friday afternoon bowling leagues until she was 91 and her health started to decline. She was honored to be inducted into the Aurora Women's Bowling Association #14006 Hall of Fame on November 15, 2003 for 50 years or more of bowling. She was a
Life Member of the Batavia VFW #1197 Auxiliary and the Lorraine Chapter #70 of the Order of Eastern Star. She was also a member of the Turners Club in Aurora. Dorothy also traveled extensively. With her husband Joe she had been to almost all of the 50 states. She cruised with her daughter and son-in-law and her sister. For the past several years she joined with friends for annual trips to Branson, Missouri. Dorothy also made two trips to France to see the sights and visit with her cousin Nane Quilhot in Paris.

She is survived by her children, Joe (Ellen) Batorson of Sugar Grove, Illinois and Linda (Jim) Christman of La Valle, Wisconsin; grandchildren; Larry (Lisa) Christman of Murphy, North Carolina, Joel (Gretchen) Batorson of Carol Stream, Illinois and Corey (Brad) Frieders of Sugar Grove, Illinois; four great grandchildren, Madeline Batorson, Elliott Batorson, Keagan Frieders and Evan Frieders. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and a special niece Jill (Wes) Blalock of Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years Joe, her parents, three brothers; Donald, Lee and Gerald; her sister Geraldine as well as several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Tuesday 4-7 p.m. April 17, 2018 at The Healy Chapel, 370 Division Dr., Sugar Grove, IL 60554 with Liturgical Prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday 11:00 a.m. April 18, 2018 at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 8S055 Dugan Rd., Sugar Grove, IL 60554 with a visitation at the church starting at 10 a.m. until the time of Mass. Interment will take place at River Hills Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to St. Jude Hospital, St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church or charity of donor's choice.
