Mrs. Dorothy Kennamer Schrimsher passed away Sunday, November 5 in Huntsville, AL, with her family at her side.



Dorothy was born on October 17, 1930 in Marshall County, AL to parents, William Jewell and Ella Bridges Kennamer. She was the oldest of six children. She graduated from Morrison High School, Warren County, TN in 1949, where she played basketball. Dorothy married Walter E. Schrimsher on July 28, 1951 in Warren County, TN. They had seven children.



As a long- time member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in New Hope, AL, she loved to sing gospel music. She loved flowers, watching birds and being with her family. Dorothy was employed by the Community Action Agency of Madison County for over 25 years.



Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Walter E. Schrimsher; her twin daughters, Connie Lorain and Debra Jane Schrimsher; her parents, William Jewel and Ella Bridges Kennamer; and sister, Rachel Kennamer Higdon.



She is survived by her children, Roger Schrimsher (Jay) of New Hope, William “Curly” Schrimsher (Ann) of Huntsville, Phyllis Smith (Joe) of Elora, TN, Anneta Wallace of New Hope and Marianne Rutland (Mark) of Owens Cross Roads. She is also survived by one brother, Harvey Kennamer (Pat) of McMinnville, TN; and three sisters, Dainease Lemly of Madison, Evelyn Lewis (Will) of McMinnville, TN and Shirley Cunningham (Ray) of Estill Springs, TN. She leaves behind 9 grandchildren, Justin Schrimsher (Denise), Daniel Sanders, Adam Pentecost (Liz), Ashley Cheyne (Scott), Joshua Schrimsher (Tiffany), Lora Waldrip, Lee Smith (Amanda), Melanie Troxtel (Zac), Marcus Trickey; and 11 great grandchildren.



Dorothy will be laid to rest on Wednesday, November 8 at Valhalla Memories Gardens, Huntsville, AL.
