Dorothy Lee Williams-Flowers, affectionately known as "Momma D", was born in Port St. Joe, Florida on March 16, 1941 to the late Rev. Lewis J. Flowers and Missionary Laura M. Johnson Flowers. She was the first born to this young couple and took pride in it. She attended grade school in Gadsden County and graduated from Carter-Paramore High School in 1959.

After high school she matriculated to Florida A&M University and subsequently transferred to Florida State University where she completed her B.S. Degree in Childhood Education.

Afterwards, Dorothy started her career teaching at Florida State University School (Florida High) and taught in several other school districts throughout the state of Florida and in 2005 she retired from Biscayne Elementary in Dade County having enriched the lives of her students for over 30 years.

Upon her retirement, she moved back to Chattahoochee and renovated the home that her parents lived in and enjoyed many years rocking on the porch. Being a woman of great faith, she quickly joined Friendship AME Church in Chattahoochee upon her return and served faithfully. She also attended church with her family at United New Jerusalem Church of Jesus Christ.

Family was her pride and joy. She often organized the family gatherings and encouraged the family members to attend. She especially enjoyed thanksgiving when most of the family would come into town for a great gathering. She enjoyed time in Caryville at the annual Broxton family reunions and in Carrabelle/Crawfordville with the Lowery/Johnson reunions.

On Monday, March 13, 2017, God saw that she had grown tired and granted her rest from her labor.

Momma D now joins in heaven her parents Rev L.J Flowers and Missionary Laura Flowers; her son Raymond L. Patterson; her brothers, Lewis J. Flowers, Jr., Booker T. Flowers and Arnett M. Flowers.
