At Sunset on Thursday, December 31, 2020, while residing at College Pines Nursing Center, our Lord and Savior called Dorothy Mae Kincaid Hawkins to her Heavenly Home.

Dorothy was born August 28, 1920 to the late William Cube Kincaid and Essie Kincaid Forney. She was a lifelong resident of Burke County and a lifelong member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where she served for a number of years on the Missionary Circle # 1 Board and recognized as the Mother of the Church. On her 100th birthday she was recognized by the Burke County Board of County Commissioners with a proclamation declaring August 28, 2020 as Dorothy Hawkins' day. She retired work from Burke Mills. She was a dedicated woman of God, loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and a friend to many.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father, step-father, Samuel Forney, her husbnd Elonzo E. Hawkins, sons Carl C. Hawkins, Alphonzo Hawkins, Marshall Hawkins, Bradley Hawkins, grandsons Edward Hawkins and Michael Hawkins and granddaughter Tina Nicole Hawkins. Also she was preceded in death by her brothers, James (JV) and William Kincaid, Charlie Forney, her sisters Betty, Essie Raye, Viola and Wilma Kincaid, Nona Witherspoon, Helen Craft, Ruby Ervin, Nettie Forney, Alice Forney and Bert Taylor.

Survivors include her sons, Roy Leonard Hawkins (Ann) of Valdese, Bruce Hawkins, Sr. (Judith) of Valdese, Fred Hawkins (Ricky) of Lenoir, sister Anne Forney Ramseur of Valdese, sister-in-law Helen Walker of Washington, DC, Daughter-in-law Mildred Hawkins of Valdese, and two grandchildren whom she and her husband reared,
Teressa Hawkins Avery of Valdese and Maurice Anthony Hawkins of New York. She is also survived by a number of other grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was a centurion who lived a long and productive live. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 1 until 1:55 P.M. Tuesday January 5, 2021 at Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese. A Service of Celebration with Facebook Life, will follow at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, with Rev. Kenneth B. Falls officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Mask and social distancing will be required.
