Dorothy Elizabeth Mashburn, age 96, passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2017.
Mrs. Mashburn was born on April 20, 1921 in Rowland Springs, GA, daughter of the late Caswell Judson Smith and Mamie Sue Neal Smith.
She had a loving and devoted marriage of fifty-four years to her late husband, Lamar Mashburn. The joy of their lives was raising their children in a Christian home and spending time with extended family and friends. They also loved traveling and enjoyed many trips in retirement. She was a true and faithful servant of the Lord and a proud and active member of Grace Baptist Church, formerly Gilmer Street Baptist Church for all of her adult life. Her hobbies included, cooking, sewing, gardening and reading.
Mrs. Mashburn is survived by her children, Larry (Terri) Mashburn, Suzy (Danny) Gloth and Jeff (Judy) Mashburn; grandchildren, Kari (Jason) Abernathy Smith, Christine (Billy) Mashburn Paul, Kelly (Heath) Gloth McFarland, Michael (Rhonda) Elzey, Sr. and Chris (Jennifer) Elzey; great-grandchildren, Michael (Cindy) Elzey, Jr., Marcus (Whitley) Elzey, Gordon Elzey, Cade and Caswell McFarland, Judson Smith, Clarissa and Vito Paul; great-great-grandchildren, Morgan Elzey and Mattie Elzey; sisters, Jean (Allen) Roach and Bobbie Black; many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at two o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 29th of July, 2017 at Grace Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Harris and Rev. Ralph Jenkins officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers are Jason Smith, Heath McFarland, Billy Paul, Michael Elzey, Sr., Michael Elzey, Jr., Chris Elzey, Marcus Elzey and Gordon Elzey.
The family will receive friends from twelve-thirty in the afternoon until service time at Grace Baptist Church.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Star Manor and Tapestry Hospice for the tender and loving care shown to Mrs. Mashburn.
