On May 5th of 1916, Dorothy was born to parents Lucy and Guy White of Bartley, Nebraska. She grew up on a farm and was the second oldest of her six. All the children spent their days fulfilling daily chores around the home. Being one of the oldest, Dorothy quickly became like another mother to her younger siblings. Dorothy worked hard, from waking up and milking the cows, to feeding chickens, slopping pigs, tending to the crops, cleaning and cooking for the family, as well as doing the mending and the sewing. When all chores were done Dorothy and her brothers and sisters would run down to the creek with the neighbor kids and take turns playing on the rope swing. One of the neighbor boys, young Earl Alley, would someday play a bigger role in Dorothy's life.
Dorothy married Earl in 1935.The two lived in the nearby town of Bartley, Nebraska. Soon after Dorothy's parents moved to Manteca, Dorothy and Earl moved there also. Their first child Karel was born in 1940 in Manteca. A year later they relocated to Modesto. Their second child born was Marvin in 1943.
Dorothy kept busy, raising her children, volunteering with the Salvation Army, serving meals to seniors, doing art and leather work, and quilting and sewing; a pastime she long enjoyed. Tragically, on Christmas Eve of 1994, Earl passed from this world.

Dorothy remained busy helping with charity groups and different organizations and visiting her children Karel and husband Jerry Baxley of Union City and Marvin and wife Brenda Alley of Elk Grove. Even though Dorothy had only two children, the family has grown into a large and loving family from California to Arizona to Colorado. She is loved by her 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was an active member of the Church of Christ in Empire, CA. and continued to live in her home in Modesto for the next 16 years. After two back surgeries, she moved to the Commons at Elk Grove for two years and until her passing on March 28,2017 she lived at Bruceville Terrace in Sacramento.
