Dorothy Ordogne Monteleone passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the age of 86. She was the daughter of the late Delaune Ordogne, Sr. and Dorothy Burgess Ordogne; loving wife for 50 years of the late Elvin J. Monteleone, Sr.; beloved mother of Elvin J. Monteleone, Jr. (Sue) and Donna M. Monteleone; sister of Yvonne Weisler (Walter), and the late Delaune Ordogne, Jr. (Betty); grandmother of Bryan Monteleone (Jessie) and Nicholas Monteleone (Shannon); and great-grandmother of Colin Monteleone, Kendyll Miller, Eli Miller, Peyton Monteleone, Tenleigh Monteleone, and Briggs Monteleone. She also leaves behind her canine pet grandchildren, Nola and Sheldon.

Dorothy was a Cub Scout den mother for many years and an active member of the 39'ers Social Club, Golden Ager's Social Club, and Harahan Lions Club, where she was elected Lioness President. She was a parishioner of St. Ann Catholic Church and Shrine in Metairie.

Dorothy was the queen of the Mardi Gras ball at St. Henry School when she met her husband to be, and for him, it was love at first sight. But he had to be persistent to finally win her over and he finally got her to say "I do" in December, 1948.

She was an angel of acceptance to many people throughout her life. She will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, generosity, and unconditional love.

Dorothy was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sibling, homemaker and friend; a great cook as long as "extremely well done" was how you liked it; the life of the party at any and all social events; the self proclaimed "center of her own personal universe"; her trusting innocence was so endearing; hilarious without trying to be, she often got the facts mixed up but the stories were always very entertaining. She was greatly loved and will be missed by many.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Visitation to be held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans beginning at 10:00AM on Saturday, December 9, 2017 followed by a Catholic Memorial Mass at 12 noon. Interment will take place at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum after the Mass. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Dorothy's memory to the S.P.C.A.
