Nielsen, Douglas A. of Papillion, NE. passed away on February 15, 2017 - in Thornton, CO. Doug was born on February 19, 1927 in Omaha to the late David F. Sr. and Elsie (Stevens) Nielsen, and was united in marriage to Dolores (Bley) on April 21, 1950. Doug retired from OPPD with 42 years of service, was an active member of the John J Mercer Masonic Lodge, an active Chanter with the Tangier Shrine Temple, and lifelong member of St Luke's Lutheran Church. Besides his parents, Doug is preceded in death by his brother David F. Nielsen Jr, and daughter Gale S Nielsen. Survivors include his wife Dolores (Bley) Nielsen of 66 years, and son Scott (Michele) Nielsen of Thornton, CO. along with three grandsons Stephen (Nikki), Michael (Ana), Robert (Sarah), eight great-grandchildren and three nephews Chris Nielsen, Mike Nielsen, and Greg Nielsen. Doug donated his body to UNMC.
An open viewing will be held Monday February 20, 2017 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM with a Masonic Service at 7:30 PM, at Crosby-Kunold-Burket-Swanson Golden Chapel located at 11902 W Center Rd. Omaha, NE. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday February 21, 2017 followed by a light lunch reception at St Luke's Lutheran Church located at 2315 "I" Street, Omaha, NE.
