Douglas (Randy) Dickerson, 93, of Greenville, husband of Ruth Hamby Dickerson passed away on July 9, 2017.



Born in Pelzer, he was the son of the late Arthur B. and Abbie Jordan Dickerson.



He retired as an underwriter for Life Insurance Company of Georgia and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Woodmen of the World and the American Legion Post #3.



Randy was a veteran of World War II, having proudly served in Italy with the 34th Infantry (Red Bull) Division and was the recipient of the E.M.A.T Campaign ribbon with four battle stars, the Presidential Unit Citation, the Combat Infantry Badge and others.



In addition to his wife of 71 years, he is survived by a daughter, Kathryn Dickerson Cunningham of Greenville, SC.; grandchildren Douglas Stephen Dickerson (Amber) and Katherine Dickerson McCain (Donnie) of Florence, SC. ; a sister, Rose Mary Davis of Belton, SC., and numerous loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Douglas Stephen (Steve) Dickerson; brothers, A. Norwood Dickerson, John R. Dickerson and A.B. Dickerson, Jr. and sisters, Virginia D. Leslie, Dorothy D. Henderson, Hazel D. Fricks and Helen D. Prussman.



Funeral services will be Wednesday July 12, 2017 at 2pm at the Mackey Mortuary with Rev. Kelly Strum officiating. The family will receive visitors from 1pm until 1:45pm prior to the service.
