Douglas Eugene "Butch" Wilson was born May 7th, 1946, to the late Voss Harrell Wilson of Fishers, IN, and Lucille Maxine Wann Wilson of Noblesville, IN. Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Nancy Susan Cecil Wilson.

He leaves behind three children, Amanda Newcomb of Lawsonville, NC, William Wilson of Reidsville, NC, and Emily Cochran of Reidsville, NC; three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Douglas and Christopher; two great-grandchildren, Samuel and Kody; and two sisters, Linda Scearce of Reidsville, NC and Lanna Vernon of Fort Wayne, IN.

Mr. Wilson was a graduate of Northeast High School, class of 1966, a Boy Scout youth leader and an adult volunteer in the General Green Council until 1967. His life was lived joyfully with friends and family. Some of his notable accomplishments include being an honorary member of the IBEW and he was a self-taught carpenter and millwright. Mr. Wilson attended a multitude of courses and training schools leading to a lengthy career as a tool engineer at the time of his retirement. Mr. Wilson loved many kinds of projects and on any given day he could be found in the shop or garage working on something. Many knew him to be a humble and reserved man. He always had time for family or anyone in need of his help. With an unspoken moto of "if it's broken, let's fix it". Mr. Wilson maintained an active life despite his declining health at his home in Reidsville, NC.

On Tuesday February 14, 2017, in the early morning hours he encountered another challenging life event, and was taken to Anne Penn Hospital. On this day, with his children and family at his side, his Lord and Father called him home at 12:52 pm. While his presence here with us will be missed, his spirit and teaching will carry on with his family and friends. In remembrance of Mr. Douglas E. Wilson, there will be a gathering of family and friends on Saturday, February 25th, at Salem United Methodist Church located at 2020 Wentworth St. in Reidsville, NC, at 3pm.

In lieu of flowers, Mr. Wilson has requested donations be made to Salem United Methodist Church or to the Rockingham County Animal Shelter. Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm Chapel, in Greensboro, has the honor of assisting the Wilson family. Online condolences may be made at
