Doyle Dean Evans, 89, of Omaha, Nebraska, formerly of the Kansas City, Missouri area, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Lakeside Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. He was born March 11, 1928 and grew up in Leon, Iowa. He attended and graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 1950. He served as First Lieutenant in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in 1953 and awarded the Bronze Star and Infantry Badge for his service in the Korean War. Doyle married Margaret Lips of Columbus, Nebraska on July 7, 1957. He spent most of his career in business administration at Butler Manufacturing in Kansas City, Missouri. His volunteer work included giving tours at the Harry S. Truman Home, the YMCA, Boys State, American Legion Honor Guard, and was past member and president of the Nebraska Alumni Association of Kansas City. He was an active member of the Kansas City Metro Men’s Choir and at his church, Raytown Christian Church.

Doyle is survived by his son Doug Evans and his wife Julie of Omaha, Nebraska, grandsons Austin and Michael Evans of Omaha, Nebraska, his sister Bonnie (Wayne) Bucy of Bonita Springs, Florida and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his lovely wife Margaret (Lips) Evans, his parents Winnie (Shira) Evans and Walter Evans and his brother Gale Evans and his wife Jeri of Cherokee, Iowa.

A service celebrating his life will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, July 27 at Floral Hills Funeral Home in Kansas City, Missouri with a visitation starting at 9:00 am that morning. Burial and a luncheon will immediately follow the service. Memorials are suggested to the Raytown Christian Church Youth Choir or the Kansas City Metro Men’s Choir.
