Earl A. Wright of Orlando, Florida went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on July 9th, 2017. He was born on April 6th, 1947 In St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, West Indies, to Alfred and Agnes Wright. Earl Wright or “Earl the Pearl” grew up in a large Jamaican family of 11 brother’s and sister’s. He enjoyed the games and sports that were popular among the other children, including cricket. He joined the cricket club and became an outstanding cricketer.

Earl attended Park Mountain Primary School and, after graduation, joined his father on the family farm. He attended Joyland Mennonite Church where he took part in concerts, youth fellowship and taught Sunday School. Earl was extremely knowledgeable about the bible and often won first place in bible quizzes and contests.

He worked for many years with the Jamaican Royal Postal Service and before that, Beadle’s Supermarket in Santa Cruz, Jamaica. In 1972, Earl emigrated to New York where he met and married the former Ms. Bernice Rudolph. He frequently mentioned to friends and family that “Bernice is the best thing to ever happen to me.” Earl was employed by the Food Emporium, which is a chain of grocery stores in New York City as a dairy manager. He performed long hours of work and, it was during this time that he was injured and retired. Family members remembered him waking before dawn, going to work in snow, sleet, or shine. He was a hardworking employee, loving father and “the best husband a woman could have.”

After Earl retired, he and Bernice moved to Orlando, Florida where they lived for 22 years until his passing on July 9th. Earl is preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Agnes Wright, two sisters (Hyacinth & Nancy), two brothers (Mervin & Oliver). He leaves behind to grieve his wife Bernice Wright, two daughters Donette Wright of Windsor, Connecticut and Miesha Wright of Orlando, Florida; one sister, Mary May of Bronx, New York; four brothers, Clunis (Michael) Wright and his wife Christine of Orlando, Florida, Owen Wright and Aston Wright of the United Kingdom (England), Lester Wright and his wife Choren of New York, and Carroll (Ensign) Wright and his wife Grace of Jamaica; two sisters-in-law Mary Harris and Jannie Rudolph, both of New York; brother in-law Johnny and wife Louise Rudolph of New York and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.

Earl is, and will continue to be greatly missed!


Viewing of the body will commence at 10 :00 am – 11:00 am on Saturday, July 15th, 2017 at South Orlando Baptist Church, 11513 South Orange Blossom Trail, Orlando FL 32837.

A celebration of Earl’s life will be held the same day, on Saturday, July 15th, 2017 from 11:00 - 12:30 am at South Orlando Baptist Church, 11513 South Orange Blossom Trail, Orlando, FL 32837. www.southorlandobaptist.org . Internment will be at Greenwood Cemetery immediately after the church service. Repass will be at South Orlando Baptist Church from 2:30 – 4:00 pm. Light dinner will be served.
