Earl Parchert was born in Grand Haven, MI to Henry and Elbertha Parchert March 22, 1922 and passed away December 22, 2016 in Fort Worth, TX. He grew up in Grand Haven. His favorite thing while he was growing up was his membership in Sea Scouts and participating in their activities on Lake Michigan. He received the Purple Heart during World War II while serving with the 10th Armored Division of the Army from 1942 to 1945. He spent almost six months in a hospital in England recovering from injuries he received in Germany. After the war he attended Michigan State University, earning two degrees in Municipal Forestry and in Park Management. He had a 37 year career supervising the construction and operation of parks in Kentucky, Iowa and Phoenix, AZ. He retired in 1987 from an administrative position with the City of Phoenix, AZ. He truly did his part making the world more beautiful in his lifetime. In 1955 he married Jean Dove of Somerset, KY. They were married 61 years. Earl was a member of Fellowship United Methodist Church of Trophy Club.

Earl is survived by his wife Jean; son, Lee & wife Dianne of Morgan Hill, CA; daughter, Susan Grandinetti of Roanoke, TX; grandsons: Christopher Parchert & wife Kylea of Albuquerque, NM, Randall Parchert, Jace Grandinetti & Braden Grandinetti; great-grandsons, Colin & Brendan Parchert of Albuquerque, NM, brother, Elmer Parchert and wife Linda of Holland, MI, sister, Lois Vanderwall of Spring Lake, MI and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A gathering of friends and family will take place 3-5 p.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at the Foust & Son Funeral home, Grapevine, TX. Graveside service will be at Dallas / Fort Worth National Cemetery with a 1:30 p.m. gate time.
