Earl "Ozzie" Reed, 77, of Vermilion, died Sunday, June 18, 2017 at Mill Manor Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.

He was born August 31, 1939 in Fremont and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 55 years moving from Sandusky.

Ozzie worked as a supervisor for Ford Motor Company, Lorain retiring after 35 years. During part of his time at Ford, he also owned and operated Pickle Pat's, Vermilion. After his retirement from Ford, Ozzie opened his own consulting/contracting firm.

He was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion where he served as an usher. He had also been a member of the Vermilion Athletic Booster Club. Ozzie was passionate about his church, community, and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He had enjoyed playing softball on the Lorain Men's softball league and especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia (nee Greene) Reed of Vermilion; sons, Michael (Dana) Reed of Carlsbad, CA and Chad Reed of Westlake; daughter, Libby Beemer of Toledo; grandchildren, McKenna, Max and Jason Reed, and Samantha and Nicholas Beemer; and his brother, Owen (Millie) Reed of Sandusky.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Sr. and Virginia (nee Disbrow) Reed.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 22, 2017 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Prayers will be said at the funeral home on Friday, June 23, 2017 at 9:30 am at the funeral home followed by a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion. Father Ron Brickner will officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.

The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion, OH 44089.
