Eddie Wayne Martin, 77, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2017, in Austin, Texas, after a short battle with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Ed was born on August 15, 1939, in Ovalo, Texas, to Avon and Celeta Martin. He graduated from Abilene High School and obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas.

Ed served 3 years in the U.S. Army where he met and married Shirley Mae James in 1963. Together they had 3 children - James Martin, Dr. Corwin (Cory) Martin, and Michael Martin. After Ed's discharge from the Army, he taught himself computers and began working for NSA. While there, he received his Master's degree from American University in Washington, DC.

Homesick for Texas, Ed moved his family to Houston to work on the Space Program for Lockheed. Next moving to Austin and finally retiring from Lockheed in Denver, Colorado after working there for 26 years. Ed and Shirley loved to travel after retirement and travelled to Australia, Canada, Africa, Russia, and Europe.

Ed is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Shirley; beloved sons (daughters-in-law), James (Pamela), Cory (Julie Reid), and Michael; four cherished grandsons, Brandon, Chase, Sean and Kade; numerous other relatives; and a host of friends.

A Celebration of Ed's Life will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, July 28, 2017, at Bethany Lutheran Church, 3701 Slaughter Lane, Pastor Bill Knippa officiating. Inurnment Services with U.S. Army Honors will follow at 2:30 P.M. at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
