Edith Elizabeth Lyster passed away on March 10th, 2017, 3 months before her 90th birthday. Her daughters were by her side. Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. Edie and her husband of 58 years, Dr. Richard (Dick) Lyster, spent many years in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, before moving to St. Petersburg, Florida where Dick was an Orthopedic Surgeon. Edie was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, sister, and aunt to her family. In her early years, she returned to work to help put her husband through medical school while still managing the care of her two small children at home. While living in Florida, she participated in a variety of charity organizations and was Pinellas County President of the Florida Medical Association Auxiliary. She acquired her Real Estate license while in Florida and enjoyed her new career for several years.

Edie wasn't defined by a career or her volunteer work. Her family says she is defined by her generous spirit, her love of stylish large earrings and her signature glasses. But when asked what she was most proud of in life, she would say raising two daughters and sharing in the love of a wonderful family! Because of her efforts and initiative, they participated in annual family reunions in Wildwood, NJ, providing memories that will remain forever. Edie will be dearly missed by her daughters, Barbara Lyster of Durham NC. and Deborah Spencer, of Madison, CT, her son in law Rick, her cherished grandchildren Marcus, and Ricky, and her wonderful nieces and nephews and their children. She will join Dick at his final resting place in the columbarium at Pass-A-Grille Beach Community Church, in St Petersburg, Florida. Her family will gather for a private celebration of both of their lives.
