COLUMBIA - Edith Lorene Fulmer joined the Church Triumphant on Friday, April 21, 2017. A daughter of the late Reverend Verley L. and Edith Shell Fulmer, she was born in Johnston, S. C. where her father was serving as pastor of St. John’s and Mount Calvary Lutheran churches.

Baptized in infancy by her late father, she was a life-long, active Lutheran, singing in church choirs and serving as youth advisor. At the time of her death she was a decades long member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church, Columbia.

A Business graduate of Newberry College, Miss Fulmer was also an avid Gamecock football supporter through thick and thin, following her team all over the country for decades. She was a proud and enthusiastic promoter of her home State and the City of Columbia.

Having never married, she lived a full and happy life giving generously of herself to her Lord, her family and her friends, joyfully giving thanks to God each day for His gifts in her life.

She was blessed with an irrepressible, infectious personality that delighted and endeared acquaintances wherever she met them. Over her lifetime she attracted a large group of close friends with whom she shared thousands of hours of great times. She traveled the U.S. and Canada extensively.

Miss Fulmer loved life, people and especially her family. In later years she served as unofficial “cruise director“ for her brothers and sisters and their spouses on many delightful, family travel excursions.

Miss Fulmer was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, William, Sidney and John H. Fulmer and sisters, Alice Rebecca Pitts, Rachel F. Lever and Ruth F. Craft. She is survived by one brother, James Verley Fulmer (Martha) of Lancaster, PA, a sister-in-law, Vivian H. Fulmer of West Columbia, S.C.; and eleven beloved nieces and nephews.

Miss Fulmer was the retired office manager at Mack Andrews Auto Service, Columbia, S.C.
