Edmund "Bill" Naasz, age 95, died April 26, 2017 at his home in Newberry Springs, California. He was born February 6, 1922 on a farm in Linton, North Dakota.

He served in the Army during WWII.

He settled in Wolf Point, Montana where he met and married Jean Marie Kirkpatrick. They moved to the Bitterroot Valley, Montana where he drove trucks and moved houses during summer and was an auto mechanic during winter. He worked on police cars and when he moved to Conrad, MT many officers drove the added distance to continue to have their cars serviced by “Bill”.

He and his family moved to Elkhart, Indiana, where his sons fondly remember traveling with him during the summers while he transported mobile homes.

In 1961 he moved to Hemet, CA with his family where he worked as a union carpenter until retirement.

He enjoyed working with his hands and could do almost anything. He built four homes. The last was a home in Newberry Springs CA where he lived out his retirement years. There he enjoyed the wide open spaces, mountain vistas and his many faithful dogs. He was a regular at a nearby restaurant where he enjoyed swapping stories with the locals.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Jean Marie and their three sons: Roy Edmund Naasz of San Bernardino, CA, Lynn Lee (wife Sue) Naasz of Albuquerque, NM, and Stacy Arlen (wife Marcia) Naasz of Winchester, CA; Two sisters: Loraine Walley and Viola Cummins; Two brothers: Danny Naasz and Ray Naasz; Nine grandchildren; and Fifteen great grandchildren.

Edmund was a wonderful jovial soul who loved to laugh and make others laugh with his clever wit and endless cache of humorous jokes. He was very dear to his family and friends and his cheerful uplifting personality will be missed by all who knew him.

The service will be held on May 3rd, 2017 at St Joseph Catholic Church in Barstow, CA. A graveside memorial will also be held at the Riverside National Cemetery where he will be interred.
