Eduviges Francisco Case, beloved mother and teacher, age 83, died on October 14, 2013, in Palm Harbor, Florida, of natural causes. Known as "Edu" to family and friends, she is a native of the Philippines and is survived by her devoted husband, Albert and their five children.

Edu was a bright young Filipino when she came to New York City from the Philippines in 1954, on a Fulbright scholarship. She attended Columbia University, where she earned a Masters Degree in Special Education. Upon graduation, she taught at the New York School for the Deaf.

Edu met the love of her life, Al, while teaching in New York. In 1973 they moved to Stamford Connecticut, where Al continued his career with IBM. Residents of Stamford for over 30 years, Al and Edu were respected members of the community and parishioners at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. In 2004, Al and Edu retired to the Washington D.C. area, where they lived for nine years, most recently in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Her wide range of interests included gourmet cooking, caring for her plants, shell collecting, listening to classical music and beating Al at Scrabble.

The Philippines was always in Edu's heart and, as the oldest of five siblings, she remained close to her family in Manila and returned there regularly. A loving mother, Edu is survived by five children, Linda (Peter-son in law), John, Leslie, Cynthia, and Kimberley.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Moss Feaster Funeral Home in Palm Harbor, Florida. In lieu flowers please make a donation in Edu's name to CSAAC.org.
