Waterford - Edward Joseph Ryley Jr., 79, of Savi Avenue, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, New London. He was born in New London, on Nov. 7, 1938, the son of Edward Joseph and Elizabeth Rose Parker. He Married Lucy Brucoli on Sept. 23, 1967. Ed served in the U.S. Army. He worked at Pfizer as a lab tech for 43 years. His true passion was baseball and coached Little League for many years in Waterford. He also umpired for many years and was honored by the Little League in Williamsport for his dedication to the sport. Besides his wife, Lucy, he is survived by his two sons, Edward J. Ryley III of Waterford and Gregory Ryley and his wife, Lindsay, of East Lyme; one grandson, Archer Ryley of East Lyme; one brother, James Ryley of Preston; and one sister, Beverly Knapp of New London; and many nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by his loving dogs, Asti, Brutus, Lis and Jennifer. Funeral service and entombment will be private. Donations in Ed's memory may be made to WestieMed Inc., 1546 Brandon Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45230. Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Ave., New London, is in charge of arrangements.
