Edward L. Smith ORANGE- Edward L. Smith, 74, of 49 West Myrtle Street, died on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at the Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol, following an illness. Born on December 13, 1935 in Providence, New York, he was a son of Edward and Mary (Saunders) Smith and grew up traveling in logging camps with his father and grandfather. He married Constance A. "Connie" (Dube) on November 21, 1992 and have enjoyed over 17 years together. Employed by the Asplund Tree Service for 27 years, Ed started his own business, Asprin Tree Service in 1992 Ed was a kind man with a tough exterior but a heart of gold and will be sadly missed. Survivors include his wife, Connie Smith of Orange; children, Sharon Laroueau of VT, Brian Smith, Kevin Pratt of Jackson, VT, Kelly Pratt of Oak Island, SC and Theodore Pratt of , SC; Mark Clark of Fitchburg, Tamara Clark of Amherst, Patrick Clark and Crista Colby, both of Orange, Jonathan Fifield of Ft. Hood, TX; grandchildren, Christopher, Michael, Jennifer, Melissa and Kyle; and two great grandchildren. Besides his parents, Ed was predeceased by a daughter, Debbie, and a sister, Linda. Visitation will be held on Saturday evening, August 14, 2010 from 6- 8 p.m., at Witty's Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange. Funeral services and interment in Holtshire Cemetery, Orange, will be private. Witty's Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange, is directing the arrangements.
