Edward Lust slipped from this life to the next on July 26, 2016 at Evergreen Fountain in the Spokane Valley, Washington at the age of 94
Ed was born, August 21, 1921 in Diamond, Washington. His parents were immigrant Volga German parents Adam and Annie Lust. He started school in Endicott and after his parents moved to Colfax he went to high school in Colfax, Washington. He was good in sports earning letters in football, basketball and track. He also attended Eastern Washington College of Education.
Ed married Mina Buchanan May 30, 1942 at Ed's parents' home in Colfax, Washington. They were together for 46 years prior to her death in 1988. He remarried in October 11, 1997 to Elaine Van Gelder.
Ed served his country with the 118th Radio Infantry Co. in Europe during World War II. He followed General Patton as a radio operator through Europe. There were times he was used as an interpreter using the German he learned from his parents. He was honorably discharged upon returning to the U.S. after the war in Europe was over.
The majority of Ed's working life was as a telegrapher and radio operator for the railroad. He retired from the Burlington Northern Railway in Harrington, Washington.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mina in 1988, his parents, two older Brothers, Conrad and Adam S., three older sisters Marie, Pauline, and Amelia as well as his grandson Justin Lust
Ed is survived by his wife Elaine at home, daughters Mona (Larry Joe) Marlett, Spokane Valley; Grace (Craig) Moeller, Harrington; sons Clain of Lacey; Donald, of Purvis, Mississippi and Bruce (Diane) of Veradale. Edward had 8 grandchildren and 18 grandchildren.
