Edward T. Stave, 72, husband of 52 years to Joan M. Stave, of Old Saybrook, CT passed away after a long illness on Monday, June 6, 2016 at Gladeview Healthcare Center with family by his side. Edward was born March 16, 1944 in New Haven to the late Edward and Edna Stave. He grew up in Hamden, settled in Wallingford for 42 years, and later moved to Old Saybrook. He attended and graduated from Hamden High School and was employed by First Constitution Bank as a real estate appraiser, retiring in 1990.
Ed enjoyed wood-working, boating, and fishing and was an active member in the Indian Neck Yacht Club for many years. Ed enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was known for his good-nature and entertaining young and old alike for many hours with songs on his harmonica, with his all-time favorite song being "You Are My Sunshine." He also loved the beach and watching sunsets with his family.
Ed will be most remembered for his kindness, cheerful smile, great stories, and playing the harmonica as he was lovingly known to many at the beach as the "Music Man." In addition to his loving wife Joan, he is survived and will be dearly missed by his daughters: Lisa Sheehan and her husband, Timothy of Old Saybrook; Lori Farkash and her husband, John of Wallingford, and son, Edward J. Stave, of Meriden. He will also be greatly missed by his grandchildren: Lexie, Emily, Nicholas, and Savannah and his siblings: Joan Cappella, Robert Stave and his wife, Barbara, and Richard Stave and his wife, Shirley.
Edward's family would like to express their deep gratitude to the Gladeview Healthcare Center and Masonicare Hospice Services for their wonderful care.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 13th at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church on 161 Main Street, Old Saybrook, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Connecticut Chapter, 659 Tower Avenue, 1st Floor, Hartford, CT 06112.
