Eileen Mary O'Sullivan passed away on July 2, 2017 at her home with her daughters by her side. Eileen was born to Joseph and Evelyn Parsons in Brooklyn, NY. She was raised there along with her two brothers, Kenneth and Brian and her sister, Claire. Eileen married John P. O'Sullivan and settled in Worcester, Massachusetts to raise their seven children. Eileen spent her entire life dedicated to her children and grandchildren.

She was always involved in volunteerism, from working at Hahnemann Hospital, Worcester, to President of the PTA for several years at Wawecus Road School, Worcester, MA. Upon moving to North Carolina, she became involved with the Wake County Extension Group and worked with them on many community efforts. She continued to volunteer at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, but one of her greatest pleasures was the Christmas Tree Tour at Historic Oakwood in which she decorated the tree in handmade paper ornaments. In later years this event moved to the Mordecai House where Eileen was requested to return year after year.

Upon retiring, Eileen continued her love of paper crafts and cards as well as her passion for cooking and reading. She loved the library and could spend hours there, and did. Eileen loved her time at Topsail Beach for vacations and enjoyed collecting beach stones. Eileen embraced her Irish heritage and enjoyed listening to the Clancy Brothers and the Chieftains. One of her all time favorite trips was when she and Jack went to Ireland and she could see where Jack was born. She loved the old country and years later made the trip there with her daughters. Eileen always placed her life in God's hands and found comfort, peace and understanding through her faith.

She is predeceased by her parents; husband, Jack; sister, Claire; sons, Kevin and Terrance; and daughters, Keiren and Meaghan. In addition to her brothers, left to cherish her memory are daughters: Deirdre, husband, David, their children, Colin, Logan and Shea of Massachusetts; Siobhan, husband, Dave, their children, Chantel and Lee of Maryland; and Maura, husband, John and their son, Aidan of Raleigh, NC. In addition, Eileen had several grandchildren whom she cherished, Joseph, Katherine, Colleen, West and Maeve.

Eileen always looked at life in a positive light. She would say, "I always wanted good things, and usually, I got them. " This is said with great appreciation and gratitude as Eileen always felt very lucky. A special thanks goes to her dear, dear friend, Margretta. She loved you. Your relationship was a special one and she cherished it. As well as, "the ladies who lunch," Mary, Pearl and Kathy, your lunches were always the highlight of her week. The family would also like to thank the special people that came into Mummy's life during her transition. Deborah, Allison and Susan of Home Instead and the caring and kind people of Transitions LifeCare, in particular, Vivian, who brought such compassionate care to Mummy, Katie, who was there until the end with Mummy and most especially, Loretta, who treated Mummy like she was one of her own. Your compassion, love and support for Mummy and our family will never be forgotten.
