Elaine Schauf (born Ethel Elaine Shoemaker) passed away peacefully on October 4, 2017, in Estes Park, Colorado, while vacationing with her family. She was 68.

Elaine was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on February 2, 1949, to Ike and Enid Shoemaker. She attended Harrison High School in Colorado Springs and graduated in 1967.

Elaine married Ken Schauf on December 7, 1968, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Colorado Springs. Ken’s career led to frequent family moves. The Schauf family lived in Colorado, California, Oregon, and Wisconsin, before settling down in Coppell, Texas, in 1995. Elaine loved to cook, play piano, and spend time with her friends and family. Elaine worked as a secretary and in retail before beginning a successful career in real estate. For many years Elaine was a top agent at ReMax DFW Associates in Coppell.

Elaine worked long hours, but her most important job was being a mother to her two daughters, Nicole and Amanda. When her daughters got married, she became a grandmother to the children of her sons-in-law, Maddie, Spencer, and Zach. In 2013, she was further blessed with a grandson, Benjamin, and a granddaughter, Parker. Elaine loved watching Benjamin and Parker grow up and enjoyed playing with them and watching them play together.

Elaine is survived by her husband, Ken, daughter Nicole and husband Charles, daughter Amanda and husband Travis, and grandchildren Maddie, Spencer, Zach, Benjamin, and Parker. She is also survived by her sisters, Carolyn and Anne. Elaine was preceeded in death by her parents, her sister Linda, and her granddaughter Allison.

In lieu of flowers, Elaine’s family suggests donating to the Foster the Future Program at the YMCA of the Rockies. Donations can be made through “Memorials and Tribute Gifts” under the “Give” tab on the YMCA of the Rockies’ website, or by sending a check to:
