Eleanor Gray Wolfe was born September 5, 1918 in Wilkinsburg, PA. She grew up in Oil City, PA and graduated from Oil City High School in 1936. She graduated from Bethany College in West Virginia in 1940, where she majored in Education and English Literature. She was a member of the Phi Nu National Sorority. While at Bethany, she met and married her college sweetheart, Darrell K. Wolfe, and they were blessed with 60 years together, most of which were spent in St. Louis, Missouri. Her career, when raising four children would allow, was spent teaching in St. Louis County, Old Lyme, CT and in later years for the Orange County, FL school system. She was a librarian assistant at Yale Divinity School Library, while her husband was a graduate student there, and also at USIU/SD in California for two years. After retirement in Florida, traveling and visiting with family filled their lives with happy memories. She was also a member of the WP Congregational Church.



Eleanor was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Darrell K. Wolfe and she is survived by her children: Carol Wolfe (Michael Honeycutt); Susan Burney (John); David Wolfe (Barbara Legate) and Daniel Wolfe (Theresa); her sister, Mildred Aerhardt, her seven grandchildren and her four great grandchildren.



Private family services will be held at a later date in Washington County, PA where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband.
