Elena Mae Dye, 84, of Kennesaw, passed away on June 8, 2017 at home following an extended illness.
A visitation with the family will take place from five o'clock in the afternoon until eight on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home.
Funeral Services to honor the life of Mrs. Dye will be held at two o'clock in the afternoon on Sunday, June 11, 2017 in the Chapel of Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home with David Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in the Kennesaw City Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Jay Dye; daughters April Starnes and Lindi Dye; sons Stanton and Patrick Dye (Donna); grandchildren J.T. Starnes, Laura Ellison, Kayla Dye Allen, Vincent Damiano, Jordan Dye, Trey Castellanos, Noah Dye, Sylvia Dye, Tristan Dye; great-grandchildren Thomas Westray, Jack Starnes, Porter Allen; sister Virginia "Dare" Castleberry; and many nieces and nephews. Elena was preceded in death by her daughter Candace Ellison (Tony) and grandson Abel Westray.
Born and raised in Cumming, Georgia, the daughter of Thad Pickett and Lillie Mae Thomas, Elena was a lifelong Georgia resident. She graduated high school at the young age of 16, when she moved to the big city of Atlanta and secured jobs at companies such as Marriott, Lockheed-Martin, and the Cobb County Police Department through the years after she ultimately settled in Kennesaw. She was an active member of Kennesaw First Baptist Church, and served as the church secretary for several years. Elena was an extremely accomplished seamstress and enjoyed playing the piano, cooking, and above all else, spending time with her family and little dog Sweetie. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her unwavering faith in God provided the foundation with which her sweet spirit provided unconditional love, strength, perseverance, and grace through many difficult life challenges including a long battle with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases.
