Elisabeth Toepfner, age 81 of Imlay City and formerly Warren, passed away June 12, 2017. She was born in Tscheb, Yugoslavia on January 13, 1936; the daughter of Franz and Elisbeth (nee Doellinger) Hubert. Elisabeth immigrated to the United States with her parents and sister in 1955. Her religious faith almost took her back to Europe to become a nun, until she met the love of her life, Joseph. Together, they raised a family and remained active in the local German community. Elisabeth was extremely active in the Carpathia Club and she taught in the German School. She enjoyed gardening and absolutely adored her grandchildren. She insisted on family dinners for the holidays, and this tradition has been instrumental in keeping her family close to one another. Elisabeth will be remembered for always smiling from her happy disposition. She is dearly loved and will be deeply missed. Beloved wife of Joseph for 58 years. Loving mother of Karin (Robert) Schwalbe, Susan Brandelik and Elisabeth (Robert) Hammer. Treasured grandmother of Eric Schwalbe, Alex Schwalbe, Paul Schwalbe, Candice Brandelik, Jeremy Brandelik and Allison Hammer. Dear sister of Monika (Rolf) Stute. Caring aunt of Brian (Susan) Stute. Elisabeth's family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 14th from 2:00pm until 8:00pm with a Rosary at 7:00pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr at Masonic (13-1/2 Mile), Warren. Instate Thursday, June 15th at 11:30am until time of Mass 12:00pm at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church, 48115 Schoenherr, Shelby Township. A committal service will immediately follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township.
