Elizabeth “Libby” Ambill passed away peacefully on July 18, 2017 after a year-long battle with lymphoma.

Born on June 20, 1949 to Pearl & Estel Hall in Crossville, TN, Libby moved to California as a teenager. After going to high school in Los Angeles and college in Santa Barbara, she settled in San Diego in the early 70’s and decided she did not ever want to leave. Libby was an avid sports fan, especially Chargers football, and she could often be found cheering on her favorite teams on the weekend. She took great joy in visiting with her family and close friends, and enjoyed bowling on the weekends. One of her favorite places in San Diego was the San Diego Zoo, but she was also a beach lover and would often turn to the waves when she needed comfort. Hawaii held a special place in her heart, having been the site of many memories made with family and friends

Libby leaves behind innumerable people whose lives were touched by her and they will miss her greatly, especially her daughter Melinda (Ambill) Pogue. She also leaves behind a son-in-law, Kevin Pogue; a stepson, Jamal McKenzie, his wife Ebony Kee-McKenzie, and their children Asha and Hasani; and her siblings, Johnnie Hall and his wife Janet, and Thomas Hall and his wife Linda. She was preceded in death by her parents and her partner of 32 years, Jackie McKenzie.

Libby was always a woman who believed in sharing her good fortune and giving back to her community. In the spirit of this commitment, we ask that in lieu of flowers, you consider a donation to one of the following charities:
