94, passed away on October 12, 2017 at Canterbury Tower Health Center, Tampa.



Betty was born November 21, 1922, in Grosse Pointe, Michigan to Karl and Ethel Goddard. She attended Michigan State University as an art student. She met and married the love of her life, Ronnie Reed. After WWII and college, they moved to Florida in 1947 for Ronnie to pursue work in agriculture, marketing fertilizer and copper chemicals.



A long time resident of Beach Park, Tampa, Betty was a member of Palma Ceia United Methodist Church and participated in the original Couples' Groups and Women's Circle activities. She was an excellent seamstress and her exquisite needlepoint and crochet work continue to be enjoyed by family and friends. Betty crocheted over 3000 baby caps donated to newborns at TGH. She also volunteered as a Gray Lady at the TB hospital.



Betty trained to transcribe Braille through the Schaarai Zedek Sisterhood Volunteer Program and was certified as a braillist by the Library of Congress. She went on to be an instructor and she transcribed many textbooks and literature to be a part of the Lighthouse for the Blind Library Collection.



Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Rolland "Ronnie" Reed, her parents, her brother, Jack Goddard, and her son-in-law, John Breuggeman.



She is survived by her son, Rolland R Reed Jr (Kim) and wife, Ann; her daughters, Connie Breuggeman, Billie Powers and husband, Ted, Janice Conley and husband, Alan; 8 grandchildren: Shelley, Emily, Juddson, Betsy, Adam, Reed, Leah and Blake, AND 17 great-grandchildren.



Betty's later years were spent at Canterbury Tower. Our grateful thanks go to the wonderful health center staff for their loving care !



The family will receive visitors on October 20 from 6 to 8 pm at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, 605 S MacDill Ave, Tampa 33609.



Graveside Service will be October 21 at 10:00 am at Myrtle Hill Cemetery, 4202 E Lake Ave, Tampa, 33610.
