Elizabeth T. "Libby" Cooper, 75, of Valdese passed away on Sunday, October 6 after a brief illness.
Born in Valdese, she was the daughter of the late Oliver and Ophelia Teague. She was preceded in death by her husband Hoyte Cooper and her sister Judy Gibbons.
She is survived by daughter Kristy Hodges and husband Andy, son Chip Cooper, daughter in law Denise Cooper, and daughter Julie Cooper all of Valdese. In addition she is survived by her grandchildren, Dr. Jon Hodges and wife Dr. Stephanie Hodges of Seattle, Dr. Matthew Hodges Murphy and wife Shannon Murphy of Seattle, Carter Cooper, Riley Cooper, Blair Cooper and Henry Cooper all of Valdese and her great granddaughter Cooper Grey Hodges of Seattle. She is also survived by her niece Mimi Hagan and husband Gary of Chapel Hill and brother in law Bill Cooper and his wife Debbie and a host of beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Libby was honored to serve as Burke County Register of Deeds for many years before retiring in December 2014. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Valdese. She loved spending time with family and friends and especially enjoyed playing cards with a cherished group of friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 12 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Heritage Funeral Home in Valdese. The funeral service will be held Sunday, October 13 at 2:00 pm at First United Methodist Church in Valdese, followed by a graveside service at Hillcrest Cemetery in Valdese.

Heritage Funeral Service and Crematory is assisting the Cooper family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Backpack Ministry at First United Methodist Church in Valdese.
