Elma Mae Arndt, also known to many simply as "Auntie", passed away peacefully on Friday, January 5, at the age of 107, at Stafford Suites in Kent, her assisted living facility where she'd lived for just over 3 years. Elma was born in Mt. Carmel, IL, on March 15, 1910, and moved with her mother & brother to Seattle in 1920 spending most of her adult life on her beloved Queen Anne Hill. She is preceded in death by her husband, Oral, and her brother, Earl Fessel. She is survived by her nieces; Donna Tredway, Terry (and John) Nelson, and Lisa (and Bruce) Malloy, as well as 10 great-nieces and nephews. Elma was laid to rest at Acacia Memorial Park in Seattle in a private family ceremony.

Elma absolutely loved entertaining her family & friends in her much-beloved Tudor home, where she hosted many wonderful Easter breakfasts and holiday dinners. She loved traditions, was an excellent cook, and particularly enjoyed bouquets of flowers. She also loved housework, which she believed was the best form of exercise one could get. Auntie was a true "home-body" and admitted to taking a week vacation from work each spring to do nothing but clean her house. She also spent much of her time in her garden where she truly had a "green thumb" but would never admit to it. In her younger years, you could also find her on the golf-course with many of her friends and co-workers, or in Olalla where she helped her mother, Josephine Horne, with her vegetable gardens. She spent most of her working career as an executive secretary and bookkeeper at Olympic National Life Insurance in Seattle.

Our Aunt Elma was dearly loved by many and will be greatly missed.
