Elmer Leroy McLennan, age 87 passed away January 10, 2018 in Phoenix, AZ. Elmer was born October 11, 1930 to Murdock and Rose Marie McLennan in Pontiac MI. Elmer enlisted in the US Air Force when he was 17 years old. He served for 24 years as an Air Traffic Controller and retired after serving 3 combat deployments to Japan, Korea and Vietnam. Elmer became Partner/Owner with his daughter in D &D Landscaping and Janitorial Services and several other businesses. His favorite past times were hunting, fishing and camping and spending time in the outdoors. He was considered a Tree Hugger at heart. Elmer loved spending time with his wife, grandkids and his dog Honey. Elmer was a member of the American Legion Post 1 and an avid donor to several different charity organizations in order to help others. Elmer is preceded in death by his wife Barbara Pomonis McLennan, son Stewart Douglas McLennan, son-in-law Dennis Taylor, brothers Eugene and Murdock, and sister Ada May Powell. He is survived by his children Murdock McLennan, Diana and William Jerry DeBolt, Kelly Taylor, Kathy and John Kennedy, Heather Butler and Timothy McLennan and a multitude of grandchildren, great grandchildren and his dog Honey. A visitation will be held at A.L. Moore-Grimshaw Mortuary 710 W. Bethany Home Rd in Phoenix, AZ from 5-8 pm on Sunday, January 21, 2018 and services will be at 10 am Monday, January 22, 2018 at the mortuary. Interment will follow at The National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
